Most people don’t realize how much information and ‘genealogical nuggets of gold’ they actually have!!
Look out for family bibles, memorial cards, family documents, newspaper clippings, war medals, birth announcements, diaries, invoices, wedding invitations, official papers, and old letters.
Cherish the latter as they may contain outstanding clues to your roots; envelopes may show return addresses or clear postmarks.
Ageing photos of your ancestors are also an excellent source of information; not just from the image itself, but on the flipside where there may be dates, names and places scribbled.
Before you say you don’t have any Family Memorabilia..stop…you do..you just have to take the time to look for it.
I love helping.
