A wonderful and often overlooked source of information to follow-up on is your Ancestors War Records. Regardless of which country you live in, there are typically many repositories available.
A perfect example of personal documentation that you may find while going through old family papers are War Diaries. These not only can give facts about the conflict but can give you a real sense of what your Ancestor was experiencing at the time.
While looking in to my Ancestors War Records I was luck enough to be given the War Diary of one of my Great Uncles. It can be viewed here Uncle Jackie’s Diary.
I love helping.
